Christmas Around the World and Year of Cheer

Christmas Around the World and Year of Cheer

Thanksgiving was a busy time around the Stewart household!  Thanksgiving meal with my husband’s folks, then we headed up even further north into the beautiful mountains of North Georgia for a very peaceful weekend.  A respite before the Christmas “activity storm” hits!

Christmas Around the World and Year of Cheer

The Mini Pizza Boxes in the Holiday Catalog made it so quick and easy to create these Christmas gift boxes.  I used the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper with a touch of gold glitter paper scrap from a Paper Pumpkin Kit (yay for scraps!) and bit of Basic Black Bakers Twine for the accent.  The sentiment, also, is from a Paper Pumpkin Kit stamp set.

The Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper has really become one of my very favorites!  I mounted a square of it on a square of Gold Foil Sheets, then topped with a gold Foil Snowflake and a Gold Faceted Gem.  Love the BLING!

While I was playing with the Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper, I decided to make a gift bag with it using one of my favorite Stampin’ Up tools, the Gift Bag Punch Board.  It makes creating bags incredibly fast!

Bling bag with logo

As lovely as this is, it only took me minutes to craft it, thanks to the Gift Bag Punch Board.  I bannered a piece of the Champagne Foil Sheets with the  Banner Triple Punch, then topped it with the gold Foil Snowflake and a Faceted Gem.  I used the Gold Ribbon for that “extra touch” behind the snowflake.  Can you tell I like bling?!?

These are just a few of the items I will have for sale this weekend at the Holiday Expo Event here in Jasper.

Pick a Pumpkin Bundle Cards and Stampin’ Blends

Pick a Pumpkin Bundle Cards and Stampin’ Blends

Pick a Pumpkin Bundle

For many years, Thanksgiving has been a favorite holiday.  Though we should have grateful hearts every day, I love taking a special day to take the time to express that gratitude while surrounded by the ones we love.  Oh, yes…and to eat the food for which we are so grateful!  Yummy!

I love, love decorating for Thanksgiving, too, using lots of pumpkins–real ones on the front steps (hoping the bear doesn’t get them!), pumpkin shaped candles, pumpkin placemats.  All of it!  So, naturally, I immediately fell in love with our Pick a Pumpkin Stamps and Dies Bundle in our Holiday Catalog.  Have you seen it yet?  Here are a couple of cards I made using the stamps and dies.

pumpkins peach bow w logo

The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is used for the background, the rectangle accent and the “fussy cut” pumpkins.  The large pumpkin and leaf dies are from the Pick a Pumpkin Dies Set.  The sentiment is from the Wood Words Stamps Set.

pumpkins w blue w logo

Cajun Craze and Tangerine Tango Inks were used here with the Pick a Pumpkin Stamps and Dies coordinated set.  The sentiment is from the Painted Harvest Stamps Set, and the background is the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  A Crushed Curry Twine bow is the perfect accent!

Here’s the Pick a Pumpkin Stamps and Dies.  And it’s so versatile–those leaves could be used year round!

LOVE, LOVE THE NEW STAMPIN’ BLENDS!

This is my very first experience with alcohol markers, and it’s like a whole new artistic world has been opened to me!  They make creating beautiful projects so much easier.

eskimo w logo

This little Eskimo card was created using the Cookie Cutter Stamps and coordinated punch.  I used the Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Combo Packs to color his coat, gloves and boots.  The face was colored with the Ivory Blend and I used a touch of Calypso Coral light for the “rosy cheeks.”  Wink of Stella added to the “snow effect” on the igloo created with you Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, then die cut with the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.  Such a cutie!

Cute piggies!

Here’s a smile for the day!

Crafting on the Hill Team Member, Elizabeth Adams, absolutely fell in love with the This Little Piggy Stamp Set when we got a sneak peek at OnStage Savannah.  Here’s one of the adorable cards she’s crafted with it:

piggy

Isn’t it adorable?  Of course, so many of us immediately thought of a “certain” precious children’s story, or of a “certain” movie about a very precocious little pig.   She stamped the pig image on watercolor paper, then cut out that and a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  Too, too cute!

Here’s the This Little Piggy Stamp Set and you can order it here.

Painted Harvest Card Ideas

Fall into Autumn with the Painted Harvest Bundle

The Painted Harvest Bundle is so much FUN to create lovely autumn projects!

Here are a couple of the cards I’ve created using this set:

Painted harvest 1 with logopainted harvest 3 with logo

There a SO many different color combinations you can use for these flowers to create so many different looks!  I like Crushed Curry as a base, with Cajun Craze or Tangerine Tango as the top.  Early Espresso is my preferred color for the center, stamped 2 or 3 times to get the desired effect.

The top card is stamped on the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, and the leaves are stamped in Garden Green.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso, then I used the Pretty Little Labels Punch and mounted it with dimensionals.  (Or “puffy dots”!)  A strip of Burlap Ribbon was just the right finishing touch!

The bottom card is stamped onto Very Vanilla mounted on Daffodil Delight Cardstock.  The leaves were stamped in Garden Green on Old Olive Cardstock, then punched with the Leaf Punch.  There are 2 small pieced of the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper bannered at the top corner.  The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso, then punched with the Everyday Labels Punch and mounted with dimensionals.

This fantastic Painted Harvest Bundle includes the Painted Harvest Stamp Set and the Leaf Punch.  The Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is included in the DESIGNER SERIES PAPER BUY 3, GET 1 FREE SALE, October 1st-31st.  Go here to get this Bundle and get 10% off, and go here to find out about the Designer Series Paper Sale!

Tips and Tricks for using this lovely Painted Harvest Stamp Set:

  • Stamp all layers of the image
  • Make sure your ink pads are well inked
  • Use nice, even pressure when stamping
  • Use the Stampin’ Pierce Mat
  • Keep in mind that lighter colors won’t show up as deeply as darker colors
  • Play around with saturation levels (e.g., stamping full strength vs. stamping off) to get your desired look
  • The stamp is not supposed to match the flowers on the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper

Savoring the last of Summer and Planning for Fall

Seems like everyone has a favorite season, and mine is most definitely summer, with spring coming in a close second.  I love being warm!  But I love that we live in a place where we get to experience seasonal weather for all four seasons.  And fall is absolutely spectacular here in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia!

So because it’s still Summertime, we played with water in the August Quick and Easy Cards Class.

Wonderful Ways with Watercolor

We made a watercolor card using Berry Burst, Fresh Fig and Sweet Sugarplum Classic Ink Pads and the Aqua Painters on Shimmery White Cardstock.   The Daisy and sentiment are stamped in Berry Burst and the Shimmery White Cardstock is mounted on Berry Burst Cardstock.

One of the versatile uses of the Stampin’ Up Classic Ink Pads is that you can press down on the closed Ink Pad and put ink on the lid, so that when you open it, you just pick up the color from the lid with the Aqua Painter.  You can also use a Stampin’ Spritzer to lightly mist the paper with water before watercoloring.  So many different options, it’s fun to experiment and find what works best for you! The inks were layered on the paper, with Sweet Sugarplum across the top, then Berry Burst, then Fresh Fig, constantly blending them.

The Shimmery White Paper is so easy to use for watercoloring, and is a slightly different texture from our Watercolor Paper.  Once I got started, I just had to create some more watercolor cards, since it was just too fun!

watercolor daisy w logo

The stamp sets were the Delightful Daisy and Colorful Seasons and the punch is the Daisy Punch finished off with a Faceted Gem.  Just love the cool summery colors on this card!

I also wanted to use the High Tide Stamp Set to create a watercolor card, appropriately!

watercolor seaside w logo

For this card, I used Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist combo and mounted the Shimmery White Cardstock on Marina Mist Cardstock.  I liked the more natural color of Crumb Cake Cardstock for the card base.

And Fall is most certainly coming, so I used leaves from the Colorful Seasons Stamp Set to create my first autumn card of the season.  I used a Stitched Shapes Framelit to cut out the sentiment, then added some Metallic Accents sequins and a linen thread bow to complete it.

watercolor leaves w logo

Then I decided I HAD to do just one more card with the Delightful Daisy Bundle!

daisy dsp card w logo

I just LOVE this Designer Series Paper!  It’s just SO easy to use to make a beautiful card quickly.  This daisy and sentiment were stamped in Flirty Flamingo and the Designer Series Paper is mounted on Wisteria Wonder Cardstock.  The Thick White Twine Bow completed the look perfectly!

Summer in the South…

There’s nothing quite like the delights of Southern Summers!  I love the long days and warm nights, the sound of the katydids at night, watermelon and snapping fresh green beans on the front porch.  The best part of the summer for me has been visiting with the grands–ALL of them!  Being with them in TN and Maryland has sidetracked my blogs this summer, but what joy for this Nana!  A favorite part of the summer for the kiddos is….

Bike Rides!

At the Crafting on the Hill Summer Stampin’ Team Party last week, we made a card using the fantastically fun Bike Ride Bundle.  I got my first bike for my 9th birthday, and it was BLUE, so I had to make this one blue!

Bike ride with logo

  • I stamped the bike body, tires and rear mount in Pacific Point, one of my favorite Stampin’ Up colors.  Bike rims are stamped with So Saffron.
  • The handles, seat, and brake are stamped with So Saffron, but you could also use a So Saffron marker.
  • The basket is the two stamp baskets, both stamped in Early Espresso.  The base was stamped full strength, the second stamp was stamped off.
  • The flowers were stamped in Wild Wasabi, then colored with Calyspo Coral and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers.
  • The “road” and the banner are Crushed Curry from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • The sentiment is from the Birthday Delivery Stamps Set (one of my favorites!), stamped in Pacific Point.  I used the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out Pacific Point Cardstock and the sentiment.
  • Adhere the strip of Color Theory DSP. Mount the tires on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Use glue dots to attach the bike body and rear mount to the tires, then attach to the card base.  Adhere the basket, then the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • On each tire and the banner, I used coordinating Enamel Shapes.

Such a great summery card!
